But still, why is the Pixar movie with the female lead a movie solely about female relationships?

Richard Lawson’s review of Brave

YEAH WE NEED MORE MEN MOVIES LIKE MAYBE A BUDDY COMEDY ABOUT A COWBOY AND AN ASTRONAUT OR MAYBE A MOVIE ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN A FATHER FISH AND HIS SON OR ANOTHER BUDDY COMEDY ABOUT TWO MONSTERS OR ANOTHER MOVIE ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP OF A FATHER FIGURE AND A YOUNG BOY

YOU’RE RIGHT, RICHARD, PIXAR DOESN’T REPRESENT NEARLY ENOUGH MALE RELATIONSHIPS

When I saw Brave, I noticed that the Queen’s dress reminded me a lot of Sargent’s painting of Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth. When I got home and looked up pictures of it, there was no doubt in my mind that it was inspired by the dress. It’s almost exact. Even her hair is the same.

The dress is currently being restored, which is a painstaking process due to the beetle wings on the dress. Even Queen Elinor’s dress had the beetle wing sparkles!

Oh, my gosh, YES! Wow, good catch!

seriously this is a movie people would want to see

why doesn’t america advertise the movies theyactually fucking madeand instead they fabricate this movie that they didn’t and like a lot of the time the fake-movie is a lot less interesting??

whyyy

apparently america wouldn’t know how to make a compelling trailer if it popped up and smacked them in the face

alternatively

i would assume it’s because a lot of american media is still founded on the perception that animation is “for children” and any animated movie should be marketed almost exclusively to them regardless of actual subject matter or plot (and instead of presenting it in a way that appeals to a broader age range), while japan is far more accepting of animation being aimed at more ages

which fucking blows, really

Okay, see, THIS. THIS is a trailer that actually gets me excited for this movie.

Boom goes the dynamite.

They probably figure the pixar name alone corners the “Mature audiences who want to watch an animated feature” market and that their bigger challenge is convincing parents that their hyperactive children will be able to sit through it.
