Why people always see Teddy as selfless sacrificing martyr  I love the guy, but he’s not a saint. No teenager is really. And very few adults. 

I love Teddy almost as much as I love Billy. But Billy fans acknowledge his flaws where as most people find Teddy to be perfect. 

I mean, if he was totally selfless, than why didn’t he go with the Skrulls or the Kree in the first run? Why didn’t he try to find a way to end the war between the races and to bring peace? It wasn’t like he had any family he was leaving behind and he could have cut his bonds with his team for the sake of a better galaxy. 

But he didn’t because he didn’t want to. Because he felt like he had no obligations to these people when Earth was his home. Its a decision I wholeheartedly agree with but its still a selfish decision.

Also, sometimes he pulls stupid stunts as well. Presents being a good example of this. I mean yeah its understandable that he’s a little freaked out because he thought Captain Marvel was back but still that doesn’t justify him totally wrecking a cop car…

and than disappearing on his team for hours on end. 

Yes, justifiable but once again its a selfish act because you know Billy was freaking the hell out about this. 

Even his first scene in the newest run of Young Avengers was selfish. Yes, Billy asking him to stop was also selfish but that’s not the point here. The point is that Teddy continued to go superheroing alone when he knew that would scare the crap out/hurt his boyfriend. He did it because its who he is and he didn’t want to stop. 

Yes, Teddy is an amazing person and an incredibly tolerant boyfriend. But he’s not perfect. And that’s perfectly okay.

I fullheartly agree with this. One of the points I like making is comparing Family Matters and ACC because those two story-arcs have a LOT of points of comparison, especially in how Billy and Teddy behave. They’re both thrown into insane, unrealistic circumstances, whole wars that had them in the center of it all. And they both more or less lost it, tried to take it all on themselves, took the blame in one form or another, and had no blimey idea what was going on. Then when they needed to call shots they messed up, they froze, they had no idea what they needed to do. And they relied heavily on the other being there by their side.

Seriously. I never got why so many people said Billy’s a bad boyfriend because of ACC. I mean, I do, but ACC was total role-reversal to FM. I don’t mind them being bad boyfriends, I have a problem with only Billy getting that treatment while Teddy’s put on a pedestal for selflessness.

And the thing is, seeing how Billy’s all he has left, a lot of what he does for Billy is still selfish because it’s not like he can just up and leave. Har.
